This T-Rex Table Timepiece is a Collector’s Delight

While most unique timepieces are created by a brand’s in-house team, some of them are the works of very talented collaborations, like the Hublot Big Bang Millenial Pink. And now, easily adding itself to this list is the bronze version of the T-Rex table timepiece, the result of a rare 3-way collaboration between Massena Lab founder, William Massena; MB&F founder, Maximilian Büsser, and, the clockmakers at L’Epee 1839.

Just like the original version it succeeds, the T-Rex Table timepiece is inspired by an ornament, a Christmas bauble perched atop two chicken legs on the desk of MB&F’s founder, Maximilian Büsser. But its eventual design imitates the T-Rex (Tyrannosaurus Rex) dinosaur, a character its designer, Maximilian Maertens took from the movie, Jurassic Park.

Modelled just like its predecessors, the major difference this 3-way collaboration timepiece packs is in its colour and its base. “I wanted this collaboration to capture the fun and child-like inspiration of the original, but with a material and finishing which invoke a more organic and rugged aesthetic, with a keen sense of history,” says William Massena.

And thus the bronze T-Rex Table Timepiece was born, with legs that look like actual feet of an aged Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur. The entire piece was also treated to preserve the bronze from the process of oxidation and premature rusting, which can easily occur due to geography and weather.

The timepiece retails for $27,000 and comes in a limited edition of just 15 pieces. It is available for purchase at Massenalab.
