After superyachts and megayachts, the world of luxury sailing is ready to welcome gigayachts – vessels that are so big and loaded with the top-notch amenities that it can put some of the best hotels to shame. Italy-based Palumbo Group’s Columbus Yachts announced a new gigayacht project that measures a whopping 120 meters.

Designed by Italian naval architecture studio Hydro Tec, the concept has “clean, crisp sweeping lines” and blends “contemporary elements with classic proportions”. According to the yard, the new design is a “natural evolution” of Dragon, which was launched in March this year.

The uber-luxurious yacht fits a total of 22 guests in 12 cabins, out of which 10 guest cabins are on the main deck and the owner’s cabin on the upper deck. The 260-square-meter master suite contains a private massage room, plus has access to a private alfresco lounge and hot tub.

The biggest attraction of the gigayacht concept is the 36-foot glass-bottomed main-deck pool in the beach club which has its own waterfall. The water cascades from the main pool to a smaller one below, creating one of the most unique features seen on a luxury yacht. The beach club also features a full spa, gym, and a bathing platform. The monstrous watercraft also comes with two custom tenders – one limo and one runabout – along with a dive center.

For a vessel of its size, the Columbus Classic gigayacht needs extremely powerful engines. It will be driven by seven generators – five MTU 16 V 4000 M33Fs and two MTU 16V 2000 M41As. The combined output is more than 13,000 horsepower which will give the yacht a top speed of 20 knots.
