“Non Voglio Mica La Luna”: Inspired By The Universe, Built For Eternity

In 2012, after seeing how banal the word ‘luxury’ was fast becoming, two authors decided on a term that would set brands in this niche above the rest. Their laid-down criteria are simple: brands that would fall under this category are those whose products or services are created with intent and purpose to achieve something truly remarkable; those whose expertise and knowledge enable them to achieve something so unique it surpasses time constraints and is remembered throughout history.

This is the definition of Meta-luxury, a term coined by Manfredi Ricca and Rebecca Robins to define “luxury beyond luxury”, luxury that rests on the four pillars of knowledge, purpose, timelessness and unique achievement.

These pillars are the same that the art director of Visionnaire, Eleonore Cavalli, says their new capsule collection, Non Voglio Mica La Luna, and indeed all their pieces, rest on. Conceived by designers Draga and Aurel, every piece in this capsule collection transcends beauty, style and durability. Each piece embodies the story of man’s journey into space, an achievement that inspired the designers’ creative process.

Handcrafted from concrete eroded by sea salt; metal elements that mimic lunar surfaces; and a bright, transparent glass that is 20mm in thickness, this dining table is a symbol of greatness and strength, which is what the name ‘Amos’ stands for. Amos is also the name of one of the satellites launched into space.

The name ‘Lego’ is popular for the toys that have the same name. But in Italian, it means ‘to join’ or ‘to link’. The Lego low table and console are made from two distinct materials-concrete eroded by sea salt and metal elements- joined together but not overshadowing the other. The surface of this set of tables resembles the surface of the moon.

Crafted with a large-scale brass mesh, the Sputnik set of modular lamps are infused with LED lights along the interconnecting tubes which, though not visible, cast a warm yet bright glow over the spaces in which they are placed. Sputnik is the name of the earth’s first artificial satellite, and says Draga, one of the designers, the name was chosen for the lamps to “remind us how important it is to have big dreams and ask yourself important questions.”
