Media personality, musician, entrepreneur and star of popular TV show Own Your Throne, South Africa’s Boitumelo ‘Boity’ Thulo, has officially launched her signature perfume, Pink Sapphire, in partnership with Halo Heritage.
“I wanted to capture the duality of women: how we are sensual, yet powerful. I consider myself quite sweet and strong so I wanted to capture those two elements and put them together. Boity Pink Sapphire is an ode to us as strong powerful women, yet it also talks to our sensuality and softness,” said the South African celebrity in an interview of the reason behind her latest scent.
This is not the first time Boity would be venturing into the world of scents, however. In 2018, she had collaborated with Unilever to release Impulse, a range of body sprays for women, and it was a roaring success. Pink Sapphire does not appear to be any different: one day to its official launch, Boity took to her Instagram page to announce that the first 1000 bottles of the Eau de Parfum were sold out.
How did the name Pink Sapphire come about? “When I met one of the partners of Halo Heritage, she said I have a pink aura. No one had described my aura as that. It stuck with me because I love pink – it’s my favourite colour! Sapphire is a precious gemstone, it signifies royalty, beauty, faithfulness and sensuality. I hold these attributes dearly. The name of the fragrance embodies me too.”
