ASPIRE Valentine Edit (Day 9): Fine Jewellery by Satta Matturi

Our special feature for Valentine’s Day has entered its 9th day, and our focus today is on the Afrocentric fine jewellery brand, Satta Matturi Fine Jewellery. But first, a quick recap.

In the last eight days, our Valentine edit has shone the light on brands offering unique and thoughtful gifts for a very different kind of celebration. We looked at the Wellness Box for day one before sniffing out special scents from Montaigne Place on day two. We cooked up something different for day three with the Orishirishi Cookbook and introduced you to the world of exquisite romantic experiences from Lyxvara Concierge on day four. We mixed things up with Moët & Chandon on day five and paired with fine dining from Eros and Gourmet on day six.

Anyone who is trying to argue that chocolate cake is a girl’s best friend has not met diamonds that are not only her best friends but her partner’s – and just about everyone else’s! – as well. And when their dazzling beauty is encased in meaningful jewellery such as Satta Matturi, even better.

The eponymous owner of this fine jewellery brand knows diamonds. Not just as the beautiful stones that we all crave, but as a friend with which one has lived all their lives and one they understand completely. Satta Matturi’s father was the Director of the DeBeers operation in Sierra Leone and had a sorting office back at home where Satta was first introduced to the world of diamonds. Following in his footsteps, she worked with Debeers for 17 years before she decided to combine her experience and her flair for unique designs in her own brand in 2015.

This Valentine’s Day, shop the Whispers of Meroe, the newest collection from Satta Matturi that features gender-fluid, Egyptian-inspired, diamond-infused gold jewellery bound to wow and impress even the most exacting person. According to Satta, “It was important to incorporate gender fluidity into this collection given that these ancient kingdoms recognised all genders. Our designs can actually be fun to wear all by oneself or can be shared with a loved one.”
