Arguably Africa’s most anticipated horse race, the Vodacom Durban July, took place on Saturday afternoon at Greyville Racecourse in Durban. The prestigious 2017 edition saw more than 54 000 people in attendance.

The theme for the day was “The colour of magic”, and local celebrities such as Nomuzi Mabena, Ayanda Thabethe, Khanyi Mbau and Minnie Dlamini donned their best, wearing gowns by some of their favourite designers.

The totes did a brisk business throughout the day, and it was clear that, despite the reality of economic recession, racegoers were not going to curtail their extravagance on the day.

Off the track, lovers of high fashion were treated to a visual feast as six new designers were crowned champions of the catwalk.
